Beautiful spring day at Pensacola Beach - but there's no dunes anymore.

Here I am! The beach! The beach!

The next few photos will be of damage from Hurricane Ivan's arrival (Sept 2004) still seen on Pensacola Beach May 2, 2005.

The chimney on the second building was actually the middle of the building - the other half is gone.

the "hurricane house" was specially designed to survive a hurricane. The weather channel broadcasted from this house. The steps were destroyed - otherwise the house came through unscathed.

And now, the pictures of the work being done. Many of the roads were destroyed or completely covered in sand, so they are moving the sand off the roads.

And a lot of the sand has de-struction debris in it, so all the sand/debris is being loaded into dumptrucks and run through enormous sifters, to remove the debris and make the beach safe for public use.

and more of the same...

One of the Pensacola Beach towers, with new piping waiting to be installed.

Me in front of the other tower at Casino Beach (aka Pensacola Beach)

And, another P'cola Beach landmark. You either love it or hate it, but if you've been there you know what the 'spaceship' house is!
